Where do I begin to describe my first week in Ulsan?! Now that I am finally over the jetlag and have reconnected with the world, I can tell you that this week has been one of the most challenging, exciting, eye-opening experiences of my life. Our first couple days consisted of mostly orientation/ground rules and various lectures with very little free time. Yesterday was the best day that I have had here so far. We had a cultural activity with Hanji craft (a traditional Korean paper made from Mulberry trees). Our instructor guided us in making Korean hand mirrors, bowls, and other small trinkets. After the Hanji craft we took a 20-minute bus ride to the pottery museum/ studio. The pottery there was so amazing and we were able to create a few pieces to bring home ourselves. Although my pottery is crooked with finger indentions, I cannot wait to bring it home and stick it on a shelf. I know it will always remind me of South Korea and the awesome time I had learning to make pottery.

Today we are having our Korean Buddhism temple stay and I am told that when it is over I will not want to leave. I am excited to see what is in store for us and to also share it with all of you.
I have so much more to share about my experience and when time allows I plan to take everyone deeper into my experience here in Ulsan. Enjoy the pictures above from our week so far. P.S. It rains here A LOT!
